Fill the largest pot you have halfway with water, bring to a boil
Peel and dice as many potatoes as you think you can fit in your pot
Cook potatoes until soft but not mushy, remove from heat
Drain off the water, but leave the potatoes in the still warm pot
Add 1 stick butter and 1/2C milk, salt and pepper to taste
Mash with hand masher, tasting as you go, adding butter, milk or seasonings to taste
Leave a few lumps
Then... hide them from ME!
